• Introducing algebraic techniques (introducing the concept of variables as a way of representing numbers using letters, extending and applying the properties of arithmetic to algebraic terms and expressions, and introducing basic concept of the cartesian plane)
• Introduction to equations (solving by inspection, solving with fractions/brackets and applying in problems)
• Introducing HCF/LCM ideas, divisibility tests (and their proofs (extension))
• Introducing indices (Prime numbers, prime decomposition, squares/square roots/cubes/cube roots, index laws)

Extension (Number Theory)

• Alternate bases (binary etc.) and applications to counting problems
